Why We Sew

Impacting lives one stitch at a time…Isn’t just a tag line. It is how we plan to transform lives through the world of sewing.  We hope that teaching someone to sew not only impacts a person’s life today but makes an impact for the generations yet to come.  Individuals in the United States are blessed to have many options to learn how to sew.  However, that is not true globally.  We are participating in a trip this summer the area around Nairobi, Kenya in association with Goya Ministries www.goyaministries.org  Goya Ministries was founded by Chad Parker, a central Illinois business owner.  Following a trip in 2006 with a group of friends to the slums around Nairobi, he felt led to find a way to offer continuous support after he returned home that was more than just financial.

The focus of this trip, departing on May 26, 2025, is to help instruct the students in the stitching (sewing) classes. The goal of this two week endeavor is to equip students from underserved and vulnerable areas with a skill that may lead to a vocation which could support them and their families. While support of this educational initiative is an on-going process, Sewing to Sow is blessed to now be a part of this initiative to radically change the lives of those living in the slums of Kenya.

We are asking for your support with this upcoming trip. Below is a list of how you can help transform the lives of the students in these classes.
